Archelaus
Son of Herod the Great, was appointed by his father as his successor, and received from Augustus Judaea, Samaria, and Idumaea, with the title of ethnarch. In consequence of his tyrannical government Augustus banished him in A. D. 7 to Vienna in Gaul, where he died.
