Aesir

a'sir, in Norse mythology, a collective name for the great gods. There were twelve of these gods and each had a throne in Gladsheim. Odin's throne was also there, but overtopped those of the twelve Aesir. The name Aesir is sometimes used collectively for all the Scandinavian gods, thirty-eight in number. See Gladsheim; Odin
