Cash

a foreigner's name for the copper coin of China. These coins are thinner and smaller than our cent and are provided with a large square hole in the center by means of which they are tied up in bunches like beads on a string. A single cash is worth rather less than a tenth of a cent. The small value of the coin is in keeping with prevalent wages and with the small parcels in which articles of food are sold at retail in China. See Coin
