Choir

kwir, a body of singers organized to render music in church services. Not infrequently the term is applied to those who lead congregational singing. A choir consists of at least four voices--soprano, alto, tenor, bass. In cathedral services the choir is divided usually into two sets of voices for responsive singing, one sitting on the north, the other on the south of the chancel.
