Cockney Poets

or Cockney School, a name given to a coterie of writers, including Shelley, Keats, Leigh Hunt, and Hazlitt. The term was first applied to these writers by Lockhart in Blackwood's Magazine. It suggested effeminacy, and was applied in derision.
