Diagonal

a general name given to several varieties of worsted textiles. The term refers to the weave. It consists of wide, heavy twills produced by bringing the warp threads to the surface in groups of two, three, four, or more threads. Heavy filling threads cause the groups to stand up in ridges, while the progressive order causes the ridges to run diagonally across the goods. The name is given specifically to a variety of worsted coating used for men's clothing. See Twill
