Fulda

a city on the river of that name about fifty-three miles northeast of Frankfurt-on-the-Main. It is a manufacturing town of about 13,000 inhabitants. Fulda is noted as the site of an ancient abbey, founded by Boniface in 744. This abbey was a center of missionary work among the Germans. Boniface was buried in the old abbey. A copy of the gospels in his own handwriting is shown. A statue to "the apostle of Germany" has been erected.
