Heroic Age, The
The, in classical mythology, one of the five periods into which the history of the earth was divided. The heroic was the fourth age according to Hesiod. It covered the period during which the heroes who fought at Troy and Thebes lived. Ovid omits this age entirely. The term is often used to denote the legendary or prehistoric period of ancient nations. See Hesiod
