Lydgate, John

John (1370-1451), an English poet. He studied in both Oxford and Cambridge. He produced many poems, one of which, Troy Book, contains a panegyric on Chaucer. The Story of Thebes and The Dance of Death are other titles. Lydgate was fond of calling himself a disciple of Chaucer.
