Pleurisy

in medicine, a disease arising from an inflammation of the pleura or membranous cover of the lungs. It is attended with sharp pains. It appears that a fluid is developed which is favorable to the growth of the bacteria. If the system is in order the bacteria are killed and the fluid is absorbed, otherwise the lung cavity may fill, with fatal results.
