Procter, Adelaide Anne

Adelaide Anne (1825-1864), an English poet, daughter of Bryan Waller Procter. Her first verses were published in Household Words in 1853. They attracted the notice of Dickens, who gave the young author hearty encouragement. She produced many poems published under the title, Legends and Lyrics. Some of her songs have been set to music, The Lost Chord being the most famous among them.
