Rush Medical College
an affiliated college of Chicago University. It was chartered by the legislature of Illinois in 1837. The governor of the state, the lieutenant-governor, and the speaker of the House of Representatives are members of the governing board. The present relationship was entered into in 1898. The course consists of four years, two of which are taken in the college of arts and two in the medical college. The institution is coeducational. There are over a thousand students, many being physicians of experience engaged in research.
