Saguenay

sag-e-na, a river of the province of Quebec. It enters the St. Lawrence through a deep canon at the Bay of Tadousac, 125 miles below Quebec. It drains Lake St. John. The greater part of its course lies between precipitous, rocky walls. As far as Ha-Ha Bay, at the foot of Chicoutimi Falls, the head of navigation, the channel has a remarkable depth of from 100 to 3,000 feet. The scenery is romantic and impressive. There is excellent salmon fishing. During the summer season, the Saguenay is visited by thousands of tourists. Steamers are taken usually at Montreal or Quebec. See Labrador
