Sodom
in sacred geography, a city in the vale of Siddim, near the Dead Sea. According to the Scriptural account, Sodom and its sister city, Gomorrah, were destroyed on account of their wickedness in the time of Abraham and Lot. Tradition has it that the site of these cities is covered by the Dead Sea, but geologists say that this is not possible. See Dead Sea; Apples Of Sodom
