Solder

sod'er, an alloy used to join metals. It is a sort of metal paste or mucilage. Soft solder is a mixture of lead and tin. It is melted and applied with a hot soldering iron, and hardens almost instantly. Hard solder, usually of zinc and copper, is not so easily melted, but is firmer.
