Still, John
John (1543-1607), an English prelate. He was educated at Cambridge and was bishop of Bath and Wells from 1593 to 1607. He is supposed to have been the author of Gammer Gurton's Needle, which was long considered the first English comedy. As a matter of fact Ralph Roister Doister preceded it. Gammer Gurton's Needle was printed in 1575. It was acted at Christ's College, Cambridge, in 1566.
