Stockinet

a general name given to plain fabrics made on the knitting machine. The name is a corruption of stocking-net. Stockinet is made of cotton, linen, silk, or wool. Wool stockinet is often called jersey cloth. Stockinet is used in the manufacture of hosiery and underwear.
