Themis

in Greek mythology, the goddess of right and justice. According to one account she was the mother of the Three Fates, and the advisor of Zeus in matters of right and wrong. In art, Themis is represented as an erect, draped figure, such as is seen sometimes on courthouses holding aloft a pair of scales in which to weigh the claims of contending parties.
