yung, Charlotte M. (1823-1901), an English writer. She was a native of Hampshire. In 1853 she won reputation as an author by the publication of a novel, The Heir of Redclyffe. Other works followed in rapid succession. The more noted are perhaps The Prince and the Page, and The Dove in the Eagle's Nest. She wrote also a number of manuals of history, including A History of Germany, A History of France, etc. She was a firm upholder of the Church of England.
