Milling Cutters
It has been a difficult matter for mechanics to understand the proper angle for a cutter to mill, or burr the stock, so that it will bend into the proper angle and make it a right joint. Fig. 236 will convey a very good idea of the proper shapes or angles for such cutters. The angle of the cutter depends entirely on the number of sides the article is to have, and can always be determined by rule. The rule is a simple one, which is to divide 360 degree by the number of sides to the angle. i.e., 360<??>4=90.
