Hand of Glory

The hand of a dead man, in which a lighted candle has been placed. It was formerly believed in Ireland and Mexico to be an instrument of magic. If the candle and its gruesome candlestick be taken into a house the sleeping inmates will be prevented from waking, and the candle itself will remain invisible. To be truly efficacious, however, both hand and candle must be prepared in a special manner.
