Anemone
a genus of plants belonging to the order ranunculaceæ or crowfoots. A. coronaria and hortensis are common garden flowers.
In zoölogy, it is a popular name given to various radiated animals which present a superficial resemblance to the anemone, but really look more like the chrysanthenum or some others of the compositæ. The anemone, meaning the sea-anemone, is A. mesembryanthemum, called also the bendlet; the snake-locked anemone is the sagartia viduata, and the plumose anemone is the actinoloba dianthus.
