Anthemis
a genus of plants belonging to the order asteraceæ, or composites. It contains the Roman chamomile (A. nobilis). The flower buds constitute the chamomile of the shops. Cattle eat it with avidity. As a medicine it is tonic and stimulating. The true chamomile plant has a fine smell, in this differing from the anthemis cotula, or stinking chamomile.
