Austin (City of Minnesota)

a city of Minnesota, the county-seat of Mower co. It is on the Chicago, Milwaukee, and St. Paul, and the Chicago Great Western railroads, and on the Red Cedar river. The city is the seat of the Southern Minnesota University and has parks, a Carnegie library, a county court house, and other important public buildings. It is the center of a fertile agricultural community and has industries, including meat packing, flour mills, foundry, cement works, roller mills, etc. Pop. (1910) 6,960; (1920) 10,118.
