Bliss (DANIEL an American missionary)

DANIEL, an American missionary, born in Georgia, Vt., Aug. 17, 1823; was graduated at Amherst College in 1852, and at the Andover Theological Seminary in 1855; was ordained a Congregational minister, Oct. 17, 1855; engaged in missionary work in Syria in 1855-1862; and in 1866 became President of the Syrian Protestant College of Beirut. His publications include "Mental Philosophy" and "National Philosophy," both in Arabic. President Syrian Protestant College (1902). Ho died in Beirut, Syria, 1916.
