Bridgetown

the capital of the island of Barbadoes, in the West Indies, extending along the shore of Carlisle Bay, on the S. W. coast of the island for nearly 2 miles. Its appearance is very pleasing, the houses being embosomed in trees, while hills of moderate height rise behind, studded with BRIDGEWATER villas. Bridgetown is the residence of the governor-general of the Windward mouth co., Mass.; on the New York, BRIDGEWATER, a town in Ply- She died May 4, 1889. Islands. Pop. about 17,000.
