THE, a borough of Greater New York, lying N. and E. of the borough of Manhattan, between the Hudson river, East river, and Long Island Sound, including City, Riker's , Hunter's, Twin, Hart, High and several adjacent islands; area, 25,270 acres; pop. ; pop . (1920) 732,016. The Bronx contains an extensive public park, with a botanical garden of 250 acres, and is the site of the New York Zoological Gardens, See NEW YORK.
