Broom

the English name of the common shrub, sarothamnus, formerly cytïsus scoparius, and of the genus to cytisus scoparius, and of the genus to which it belongs. It has large beautiful yellow flowers. Butchers' broom is the English name for the liliaceous genus ruscus, and especially for the ruscus nus patens, a native of Spain and Portunus patens, a native of Spain and Portugal. The word is also applied to a besom for sweeping.
