In Europe its flour is employed in the making of bread, cakes, etc., and its seeds for feeding horses and poultry.
The total acreage in the United States for 1919 was 790,000, about 34,000 less than the 5 year average acreage (1913- 1917), producing 16,301,000 bu. and valued at over $24,000,000.
