Clark (FRANCIS EDWARD an American)

FRANCIS EDWARD, an American clergyman; born in Aylmer, Quebec, Sept. 12, 1851; graduated from Dartmouth College in 1873, and continued his studies at Andover Theological Seminary. He became pastor of a Congregational Church at Portland, Me., and there organized the first Young People's Society of Christian Endeavor, Feb. 2, 1881. In 1887 he was made president of the United Society of Christian Endeavor, and president of the World's Christian Endeavor Union, and also became editor of the "Christian Endeavor World," the official organ of the society. He was the author of many books on religious subjects as well as of books of travel, and published many leaflets, sermons, addresses, etc.
