Darlington
JAMES HENRY, an American Protestant Episcopal bishop, born in Brooklyn in 1856. He graduated from New York University in 1877 and from the Princeton Theological Seminary in 1880. He was ordained priest in 1882.
From 1883 to 1905 he was rector of Christ Church of Brooklyn. In the latter year he was consecrated first bishop of Harrisburg. He served as lecturer in New York University and as chaplain of the 47th Regiment of the New York National Guard. During the World War he was a member of the Committee on Public Safety in Pennsylvania and was head of the Serbian Relief Fund in the United States. He received several decorations from foreign countries for work done during the war. He was a member of many learned and patriotic societies. He wrote "Pastor and People " (1902) and published several volumes of sermons.
