Davis Strait
a strait that washes the W. coast of Greenland, and connects Baffin Bay with the Atlantic Ocean. At its narrowest point, immediately N. of the Arctic circle, it measures about 200 miles across. In 1888 the identity between Ginnunga Gap, referred to in the Sagas, and the present Davis Strait was demonstrated.
