Dry Fog

a haze due to dust or smoke in the atmosphere. Sometimes a haze caused by the mixture of air currents of different densities. A historic dry fog was that which occurred in 1783 over considerable portions of the northern hemisphere. Its source has been traced to extensive volcanic eruptions in Iceland and Japan.

Duralumin

an alloy of aluminum with a small percentage of copper and nickel. It weighs but slightly more than aluminum and has five times the strength.

The supporting framework of dirigible balloons is commonly made of duralumin.

Dasheen

a potato-like vegetable recently introduced into the southern United States from the tropics. It is wholesome and nutritious, much like the white potato in general composition, but with less water and a higher percentage of protein and carbohydrates. Its cultivation and use are advocated by the U. S. Department of Agriculture.
