EDWARD, an American author; born in Vevay, Ind., Dec. 10, 1837. In fiction he has achieved celebrity with stories of life in southern Indiana in pioneer days. His works include: "The Hoosier Schoolmaster"; "The Circuit Rider"; "Roxy"; "The Graysons"; "The Faith Doctor"; "The Hoosier 31-Vol. III-Cyc 1 EGGLESTON Schoolboy"; "Queer Stories for Boys and Girls"; "Schoolmasters' Stories"; "Mr. Blake's Walking-Stick"; "Duffels"; "School History of the United States"; "Household History of the United States"; "First Book in American History"; "The Beginners of a Nation," the first volume of a "History of Life in the United States"; etc. He died in 1902.
