Erlangen (City of Bavaria about fifteen)
a city of Bavaria, about fifteen miles N. N. W. of Nuremberg, on he Regnitz. Important manufacturing plants are located here, principally turning out woolen and cotton goods, goods, glassware, gloves, and beer. The city was Prussian from 1791 until 1810, when it became Bavarian. It is noted as the location of the Friedrich-Alexander University, which, before the World War, had an average student body of 1,350 The volumes in the local library number a quarter of a million. Pop. about 25,000.
