Everett (City in Middlesex co Mass)

a city in Middlesex co., Mass., on the Boston and Maine railroad; three miles N. of Boston. It was part of Malden until 1870 and was incorporated as a city in 1893. It has electric railway connections with Boston and neighboring cities, and iron, steel, and woolen mills, and varnish and chemical works. It contains several public schools, high school, Whidden Hospital, Shute and Parlin Libraries, the Home School, weekly newspapers, savings banks, etc.

Pop. (1910) 33,484; (1920) 40,120.
