Fairbanks (DOUGLAS an American actor born)

DOUGLAS, an American actor, born in Denver, Colo., in 1883. He was educated at the Jarvis Military Academy in Denver, and at the Colorado School of Mines. He made his first appearance on the stage in New York in 1901 and afterward appeared as a star in several successful plays. His chief success, however, was won as a movingpicture actor, in which he attained great prominence, both in the United States and other countries.

FAIRBURY a city, of Nebraska, the county-seat of Jefferson co. It is on the Chicago, Rock Island, and Pacific, the Burlington, and the St. Joseph and Grand Island railroads, and on the Little Blue river. It has important manufactures and is the center of an important fruitgrowing region. There are a library, postoffice, and other public buildings.
