Fort Scott

a city of Kansas, the county-seat of Bourbon county. It is on the St. Louis and San Francisco, the Missouri, Kansas and Texas, and the Missouri Pacific railroads. It is also on the Marmaton river. It is the center of important deposits of coal, cement, clay, zinc, and lead. The industries include foundry and machine shops, flour mills, cement works, and manufactures of harness, medicines, etc. Pop. (1910) 10,463; (1920 ) 10,693.
