Frelinghuysen (THEODORE an Millstone American)
THEODORE, an Millstone , American lawyer; born in Millstone, N.
J., March 28, 1787; was graduated at the College of New Jersey in 1804 , and admitted to the bar in 1808. In the War of 1812 he commanded a company of volunteers, and in 1817 became attorney-general of New Jersey, which office he held till 1829 when he was elected United States Senator. He was chosen chancellor of the University of New York in 1838; was nominated for Vice-President of the United States in 1844; and in 1850 became president of Rutgers College, which position he retained until his death.
