Glastonbury
a town of Somersetshire, England, 25 miles S. of Bath. It was the seat of the most magnificent and wealthy abbey in England, the last abbot of which was hanged for refusing to surrender it to Henry VIII. Its ruins are still extensive.
GLATZ (gläts), a town of the province of Silesia, Prussia, on the left bank of the Neisse, 52 miles S. S. W. of Breslau.
It has four Catholic churches. Its manufactures before the World War included GLAUBER'S SALT linen, damask, and woolen fabrics, leather, and rose-garlands. During the Thirty Years' and Seven Years' Wars, Glatz was frequently besieged and taken.
