FREDERIC CLEMSON, an in Meadville, Pa ., in 1857. He gradu- HOWE ated from Allegheny College in 1889, and took post-graduate courses at Johns Hopkins University. He afterward studied in Germany and studied law at HOWE but in 1830 invented a pin-making machine. This he perfected later and revolutionized the pin manufacture with it. He died in Birmingham, Conn., Sept. 10, 1876.
