Hunt (RICHARD MORRIS an American)

RICHARD MORRIS, an American architect; born in Brattleboro, Vt., Oct. 31, 1828; finished the study of his profession in Paris; and was employed on the extension of the National Capitol. Among the structures designed by him are the Presbyterian Hospital, Lenox Library, the William K. Vanderbilt mansion, the "Tribune" Building, etc., in New York City; the Yorktown Monument, Va.; the pedestal of the "Statue of Liberty," on Bedloe's Island, New York harbor; etc. He died in Newport, R. I., July 31, 1895.
