Ilmenite
or MENACCANITE, FeTiOs or (FeTi)₂O, a mineral found in the Urals, in Norway, France, the Adirondacks, in Connecticut, Massachusetts and Canada. Dark brown to black in color, with a semi-metallic luster, and a lustrous conchoidal fracture. Occurs in isolated grains in basic igneous rocks, and as deposits in the beds of streams.
Contains approximately 37 per cent. iron and 32 per cent. titanium.
