SIR ALBERT EDWARD, a Canadian statesman. He was born at Clarenceville, Quebec , in 1858, and was educated at the Lacolle Academy. He is director of the National Trust Co. and Imperial Life Assurance Co., Toronto, and has been president of the Canadian Manufacturers' Association and Toronto Board of Trade. In 1900-1908 and since 1911 he has had a seat in the Canadian House of Commons. He was chairman of the War Purchasing Commission and has been Minister of Militia since 1916.
