Kentucky Resolutions

a series of nine resolutions introduced into the Kentucky Legislature in 1798, by George Nicholas, though it was afterward known that Thomas Jefferson was the author of them. They were directed against the Alien and Sedition laws, and against acts passed to punish frauds on the Bank of the United States, and emphasized the rights of the several States. Another resolution was added in 1799.
