Kincardineshire
OR THE MEARNS, a northern county of Scotland, bounded on the N. by the river Dee and Aberdeenshire, by Forfarshire on the W. and S., and the North Sea on the acres, of which 121,000 are in cultivation.
In the W. and N. W. the Grampians traverse the county. The principal towns are Stonehaven, which is the capital; Laurencekirk and Inverbervie. Pop. about 45,000.
