Mukden

MOUKDEN, or FUNG- TIEN-FU, a town of China, capital of Manchuria and of the province of Leao- Tong, about 380 miles N. E. of Peking.

It is doubly walled, being an old and long-time residence of the Imperial Clan or Manchu sovereigns before their conquest of China. Feb. 28 to March 13, 1905, the greatest battle of the Russo- Japanese War took place here. The city has a large trade. Pop. about 160,000.
