Muncie
a city and county-seat of Delaware co., Ind.; on the White river, and on the Lake Erie and Western; the Cleveland, Cincinnati, Chicago and St.
Louis, the Chesapeake and Ohio of Indiana, the Fort Wayne, Cincinnati and Louisville, the Pittsburgh, Cincinnati, Chicago and St. Louis and the Central Indiana railroads; 53 miles N. E. of Indianapolis. It contains the Muncie Normal Institute, high schools, hospital, public library, street railroad and electric light plants, several National banks, and daily and weekly newspapers. It has a pulp mill, a number of large glass works and automobile works, several iron and steel works. Pop. (1910) 24,005; (1920) 36,524.
