Neckar
one of the largest tributaries of the Rhine, and the principal river of Württemberg, rising on the E. declivity of the Black Forest, near the village of Schwenningen. It has a winding course of 250 miles, and joins the Rhine at Mannheim-the other towns on its banks being Tübingen, Heilbronn, and Heidelberg. From Cannstadt, about midway in its course, the Neckar is navigable. Fair wines are grown on its banks.
