Nejd
or NEJED (Arabic, "elevated country"), a term sometimes used as an element in Arabic place-names, but used absolutely to signify the country in the interior of Arabia forming the Central Wahabi kingdom. A great part of its surface is sandy desert interspersed with fertile spots. The more elevated districts feed immense droves of camels NELSON and the best breeds of Arab horses, Chief town Riad, the Wahagi capital; pop. about 28,000.
